My squad and I have been at Launch for almost a week now, and last night two of our teams left to head to our first ministry assignment! We’re currently on a layover in Miami as we journey to Honduras where we’ll be doing ministry for the next two months!

If you’ve been following the blogs closely, that sentence might have made you say, ”wait, what?”

You might recall that my squad had originally planned to go to Guatemala to begin our year, but with changing health restrictions making travel and ministry more difficult, our leaders have decided that we’re going to go straight to Honduras instead… and we’re so excited!

Our three teams will be in two different parts of the country serving. We don’t know yet what our exact ministry will look like, but our options include manual labor, kids ministry, womens ministry events, house visits, and evangelism. We’ve been learning this week about what it looks like to always have our eyes open to opportunities to share the love of Jesus with people, so I also anticipate that what some might consider “ministry” with just happen spontaneously as we go about our days.

My team (Selah) and another team on my squad (Flocka Sheep) will be staying and serving together with a pastor and his family in a rural mountain community until the beginning of March. We don’t quite know what we’re walking in to, but we trust the Lord and know that He is good, so we know whatever we do with Him will be good!

I’m not saying (or expecting) that it’s going to be particularly easy—building deep community with people that are practically strangers, living in a tent on a mountainside, and getting accustomed to life within a language and cultural barrier—but I am hopeful that it will be good.

Launch was a whirlwind! It feels very surreal to finally have arrived at what once felt like a blurry dream that was a lifetime away.

Right now, I’m really tired and also really expectant. We won’t have much access to Wi-Fi, but I’m excited for the opportunity to disconnect. We’re anticipating spotty-to-no wifi, but I’m looking forward to many sunrises and sunsets with the most beautiful views. We’ve been learning to keep our hands open to whatever comes and goes, and I’m excited to continue growing in that.

Pray for me and my squad! Pray for our health and safety. For our eyes to be focused on what we’re doing and our minds to remember often why we’re doing it. For our teams to grow in friendship and depth and joy. For our leaders to lead with grace and humility and confidence.

And also please pray for my fundraising! I’m 75% funded!!!!! Which is incredible!! If you feel led to give, you can do so at the top of my blog. And if you have any questions, I’d love to answer them!

Stay tuned for more updates about what God and my squad is up to in Honduras!
