Have you ever felt yourself staring head-on at something that seemed too big and too overwhelming to even wrap your brain around? Those moments you feel like an ant sizing up a mountain right in front of you? Or you feel like there are so many things to do swirling around in your head that you can’t find the ability to just pick one and get started?

Full disclosure: preparing for the World Race feels a little bit like that.

There is a lot to do.

Pray. Write a blog. Share on social media.

Pray. Design a t-shirt. Meet with friends. Plan a fundraiser. Research gear. Get to know your future squad mates. Look up flights. Buy plane tickets. Research the weather in every country you’re headed to. Figure out the best tent to sleep in for a year, the best backpack to carry for a year, the best sleeping pad to crash on for a year, on and on. Buy it all. Make appointments for travel vaccines. Figure out logistics and legalities. The list goes on and on.

And don’t forget that you’re still working the same jobs, running at the same pace, and trying not to seem flakey about any of your prior commitments or obligations. And every once in a while, try to shower and get groceries and maybe make your bed.

Oh! And… support raise. The tiny little $18,700 detail that makes the whole World Race possible.

This total includes all ground and air transportation, travel insurance, training and debrief expenses, logistic and squad support, food and lodging, and all ministry expenses and donations for the entire year.

It breaks out to $1,700 per month (which is less than it costs the average person to live per month in the U.S.!!!! say what!!!) and the bar at the top of my blog tracks just how close I am to meeting my fundraising goal.

When I said “yes” to the World Race, I said yes to this financial commitment, trusting that God plays the long game when I can only see the short term.

So you’re probably thinking okay… and?

The and is this: I can’t do it alone.

Whatever you want to call it–I need community, supporters, encouragers, financial partners, prayer warriors, connectors, get-your-eyes-back-on-Jesus kind of re-directors. Whatever you want to call yourself–I need YOU.

If you’re a person that prays, then please pray for myself and my team and the people we will meet, pray boldly and pray often.

If you’re a person that gives, then please consider donating through the link at the top of my blog! All direct donations are tax deductible. 🙂

If you’re a person who likes to see tangible difference, please consider sponsoring a personal expense–my tent, training camp flight, sleeping bag, travel vaccines, other piece of gear or something completely different! Whatever comes to mind for what you’d love to be a part of, let’s talk about it.

If you’re a person who likes to connect with other people, please share about my World Race! Point people to my blog or connect me with them elsewhere, or share my fundraisers with your friends and network!

So, what do you say?

If you’re local, I’d love to meet up and chat!

If you’re not local, send me a message or text!

Regardless of where in the world you find yourself right now, I’d love to share about the World Race, what it is and what it means, with YOU!
